Free Back to School Community Outreach
Q: Do children have to be present to receive supplies?
A: We would love to meet your family. However, no, children do not have to be present for parents, legal guardians or other caretakers to receive up to three free backpacks with school supplies for children. If more than three children are present then you can receive at least one bag for each child physically present.
Q: Is there a pre-registration, sign-up, documentation required?
Q: Will there be clear backpacks?
A: No, clear backpacks will not be provided.
Q: Is this a drive-through event or do I have to get out of my vehicle?
A: No, this is not a drive-through outreach. You will have to get out of your vehicle. There will be an orderly line where you may have to stand for a few minutes to be able to go through the distribution line.
Q: How many backpacks and school supplies will be distributed?
A: 500 backpacks will be given away on a first come first, serve basis. Each backpack will include essential school supplies such as paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, crayons, glue, folders, and scissors free to the local community at the event.
Q: Is there a limit to the amount of backpacks and school supplies that one family can receive?
A: Yes, supplies will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last. Children do not have to be present; however, only up to three backpacks will be distributed to families if children are not present. If children are physically present, one backpack per child will be provided on a first come first served basis, while supplies last.

A: No, we will not hold or reserve any supplies for persons not present. You must be present or send a representative to receive supplies. Items will be distributed on a first come, first serve basis while supplies last.

Purchasing school supplies and materials each year can be challenging for many families in our community for the 2023-2024 school year.

REMNANT CHURCH & THE REMNANT COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT CORPORATION ANNOUNCESFREE BACK TO SCHOOL COMMUNITY OUTREACH EVENT
(Midwest City, Oklahoma) – Remnant Church will be giving away 500 backpacks filled with essential school supplies, such as paper, notebooks, pencils, pens, erasers, crayons, glue, folders, and scissors, for free to the public on Saturday, July 27, 2024, starting at 10:00 AM. The event will take place at the Kiwanis Park South Pavilion located at 1101 South Midwest Blvd, Midwest City. Remnant Church Senior Pastor Anthony Herron stated, “Youth in our community need basic school supplies to excel academically and socially. The cost of these supplies is a financial burden for many families in our community. The backpack giveaway aims to reduce barriers to academic success and provide students with a fresh start for the new school year. This year, Remnant Community Development Corporation is also offering additional support to help alleviate the economic obstacles many families face when purchasing school supplies for the new school year.”
Since 2016, Remnant Church, a non-denominational church in Midwest City, OK, has organized a Back-to-School Community Outreach, providing over 2,500 backpacks with school supplies to young people across the greater Oklahoma City metropolitan area. This giveaway is made possible by the generous contributions from Remnant Church and Remnant Community Development Corporation, as well as other ministry supporters and community partners/sponsors, including the Rosh Pinah Congregation of Oklahoma City. Pastor Ashley Herron, co-lead pastor of Remnant Church, added, “Remnant Church and Remnant Community Development Corporation are pleased to address the community’s need for school supplies. We are sharing what we have to be a blessing to our community. This outreach offers hope, motivation, and practical assistance for the upcoming school year.” School supplies will be distributed on a first-come, first-served basis while supplies last.
